HCG Corion is a hormone administered to boys (before they reach puberty) to facilitate the proper descent of the testicles into the scrotum. It is also utilized in specific cases to assist with normal sexual development. The hormone functions by prompting the testes to release male sex hormones, such as testosterone. Additionally, HCG Corion is prescribed to women to address fertility issues. It is administered after completing another medication (menotropins) to trigger the release of an egg (ovulation). However, it should not be prescribed for women whose ovaries are unable to produce eggs appropriately (primary ovarian failure). This medication has not been proven effective for weight loss and should not be used for that reason.
HCG is a hormone that aids the normal maturation of an egg within a woman's ovary and encourages its release during ovulation. It is utilized to induce ovulation and to treat infertility in women, as well as to boost sperm production in men.
HCG Corion is administered through an injection either under the skin or into a muscle. If this medication is to be used at home, your healthcare provider will provide detailed instructions regarding the administration and site of the injection. Do not attempt to self-inject this medication unless you are completely confident in how to perform the injection and dispose of used needles and syringes properly.
Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any signs of a blood clot, which may include pain, warmth, redness, numbness, or tingling in the arms or legs; confusion; severe dizziness; or intense headache. Some women using this medication have reported developing a condition known as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), particularly after the initial treatment cycle. OHSS can be a serious and potentially life-threatening condition. Seek medical attention promptly if you notice any symptoms of OHSS, such as severe pelvic pain, swelling in the hands or legs, abdominal pain and swelling, shortness of breath, rapid weight gain, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting, and reduced urination. Corion may also cause early onset of puberty in young boys.
While HCG Corion can facilitate pregnancy, it falls under FDA pregnancy category X, indicating that it can cause birth defects if taken during pregnancy. Do not use this medication if you are pregnant. Inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant while undergoing treatment.
